Meet Darius L. Francis

Putting The People First

Who Am I?

“I’m Darius L. Francis, a U.S. Army veteran, entrepreneur, and community advocate running to represent District 115.

I was raised in South Miami by my grandmother in low-income housing. I come from hard work, discipline, and doing more with less. Those early years shaped how I see the world and why I believe people deserve real choices when it comes to representation. Not voices that talk at them, but leaders who can echo their concerns and fight for them where decisions are actually made.

I served as a Sergeant in the United States Army, completing two combat tours in Afghanistan. That experience taught me leadership under pressure, accountability, and the importance of protecting the people you serve. After the military, I became an entrepreneur and a public speaker, building businesses and working directly with people from all walks of life; listening to their struggles, goals, and frustrations with a system that often feels disconnected."

Why I’m Running?

“South Dekalb and Henry County are growing fast. That can be a blessing or a burden depending on who pays the price.

I’m running to make sure growth works for residents, not just developers; that homeowners aren’t priced out of their own communities; that our roads, schools, and public safety keep pace; and that seniors and working families are respected, not overlooked.

I believe government should be accountable, practical, and rooted in the real lives of the people it represents. My goal is simple: to be a voice you recognize, a leader you can reach, and a representative who shows up and gets the work done."

The Issues

Responsible Growth & Development

What’s happening:

Large-scale development proposals can bring jobs and opportunity but also strain roads, schools, water, and community character.

My stance:

  • Support property rights and responsible planning
  • Require transparent impact reviews
  • Push impact fees so developers help fund roads, schools, and public safety

Local Control & De-Annexation

What it means:

Communities shouldn’t be trapped in bureaucratic gridlock over who controls county property, zoning, and planning.

My stance:

  • Keep decision-making close to the people
  • Prevent overreach and create clear, fair timelines
  • Encourage collaboration between county, city, and residents

Property Taxes & Strong Schools

The reality:

Families are stretched, and schools are growing fast. We need responsible budgeting and outcomes that match the investment.

My stance:

  • Support property tax protections and transparency
  • Put dollars into classrooms, not bureaucracy
  • Expand high-quality options (career pathways, charters, targeted support) while strengthening public schools

Transportation & Infrastructure

What residents feel:

Congestion, road wear, and growth pressure.

My stance:

  • Targeted road and traffic fixes that deliver relief
  • Make growth pay for upgrades
  • Oppose wasteful spending & prioritize what actually helps residents and commerce

Public Safety & Crime

My Stance

  • Support well-trained, well-equipped law enforcement
  • Expand victim support
  • Use tools that work (including evaluating tech like FLOCK cameras with clear privacy standards)
  • Focus on repeat violent offenders and prevention that keeps youth from cycling into crime

“We don’t have to choose between safety and accountability.

We need both."

PRIORITIES FOR SENIORS & FAMILIES

Healthcare Access & Affordability for Seniors and Working Families

Healthcare is too expensive and too confusing. My focus is practical: help people access the programs they already qualify for, reduce red tape, and expand real access points for care especially for seniors.

  • Help seniors lower costs (Medicare counseling, prescription cost help, caregiver support)
  • Expand access locally (clinics, telehealth, mental health access)
  • Cut the paperwork barriers so eligible families can actually get coverage
